| Inshore bass DO
grow bigger than 36cm During the recent consultation on increasing the UK Minimum Landing Size for bass, in their respective responses, some good points were made by both the catching and the Recreational Sea Angling Sectors. Of particular concern to anglers was the claim put forward by a number of fishermen that once bass grow to over 36cm, they move far offshore where (seemingly) only the French could catch them. Even today, there are large bass to be caught just off our beaches (admittedly a lot fewer now that most bass that stay inshore are netted at just 36cm). To make their point that large bass do stay inshore, and given suitable management options their numbers can be increased, the Bass Anglers Sportfishing Society have produced a video that amply makes the point. We hope that you enjoy watching fish well in excess of 36cm being caught either from the shore or very close to it, many thanks to BASS for producing the video. Hopefully watching this will help inspire you to keep fighting to protect our priceless stocks.
